About the Artist

Alyena Munzar is a Vancouver Island-based artist and illustrator working in oil painting. She paints portraits and the human figure, capturing emotion and connection to the natural world. Her work delves into narratives of nature, femininity, mythology, emotional resonance, and the figure's response and integration into the environment. Alyena found her love for drawing and painting at an early age, and her passion and focus for art led her to study visual arts at the University of Victoria. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2025 and has developed a distinct practice focused on figurative oil painting and portraiture. Alyena is an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), where she has been juried into several recent shows, including the FCA Victoria Spring and Fall shows and the FCA Vancouver “Annual International Representational Exhibition”. Her work has also been featured in galleries such as the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Rockslide Gallery, Metchosin Art Pod, the University of Victoria Audain Gallery, and at the Sooke Fine Arts Show for three consecutive years.
